What is IUPUC Dance Marathon? The IUPUC Dance Marathon is an all night party filled with music, food, entertainment, excitement, and fun! It is open to the public so we encourage you to bring friends and family that are 18 or older. Once you get to the IUPUC Dance Marathon, you wont have to dance a step if you dont want to, but we will ask you to stay on your feet for the entire 6 hours. Terry Lee Ridley and the Rockaboogie Band will be performing live! They are a high energy, 1950s, piano pumping, rock and roll band! They are exactly the type of band needed to get the night started out on the right foot. Youll be having so much fun listening to the band, playing games, eating, and hanging out with Riley families and your friends that you wont even realize what time it is! When is the IUPUC Dance Marathon? Friday, November 9th from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. Where is the IUPUC Dance Marathon? Factory 12 Event Loft 1235 Jackson Street Columbus, IN 47201 Where does the money go? All funds raised will be split between two programs at Riley, the Child Life Program and Camp Riley. The Child Life Program offers kids at Riley the opportunity to take their mind off of why they are in the hospital. Child life specialists visit the kids in their rooms to share in fun activities such as dress up, video games, music, arts, and crafts. One of IUPUCs own students benefitted from this program during his stay at Riley after surgery to remove a brain tumor. Child Life Specialists brought Guitar Hero to his rooma memory he will never forget. Camp Riley, a summer camp for kids with disabilities, is housed in Bradford Woods which is located in Martinsville. Over the summer Riley kids get the opportunity to attend 1 of 8 camps. Each camp is structured to meet the needs of the childs disability but still gives them a real camp experience. They get to sleep outside under the stars without a tent, they get to climb climbing towers, go on nature hikes, participate in art and music therapy, canoe, water ski, swim, and share experiences with other campers who have the same disabilities as they do. Camp Riley is an experience campers look forward to each year and is also something they treasure for the rest of their life. It's the one week out of the year the kids get to feel normal.
